How do you step from the top of a 100-foot pole

http://uglyblackjohn.blogspot.com/2011/11/humility.html
When a I visualize a 100-foot pole; it brings to mind a pole that is continuously rising. I can compare it to the journey of a human being. When the journey begins; the pole is still small.Over time; the individual grows; the pole does the same and become this 100-foot pole. When it is at this level; the person is at an high level in his life; either socially or professionally.

"Stepping down from a 100-foot pole" brings to mind the fact that people who are seen as older and wiser let others take decisions;have opinions and have the humility to accept them. It highlighs the facts that  they need "to step down" from their social positions. (even if they are your elders or superiors).

Interacting; participating with others; and having the humility to embrace new ideas and opinions (either on a social or professioanl level) is important as it permits you to understans that no matter how far you are; there are always things that you don't know and still have to learn.

Goodbye Mr Nice (for now)

http://raisingsunny.blogspot.com/2010/07/abcs-of-feelings-h.html
"We are what we do".People assess your personality through your actions. You return a lost wallet; you are an honest person; you help people as much as you can (sometimes even too much); you are perceived as kind and compassionate. It is a good thing that people see you that way. However; the problem is that people will ONLY see you that way. Somebody who is nice; kind and who never says no. That is exactly when people take advantage of you.

Well I'm sorry; "Mr Nice" has left the building (for now). I'm not saying that you should become mean; but you should show people that you can actually say no; you need to show this side of you in order for them to understand that there is a limit. You come to this conclusion when people continuously "take you for granted". You wish you did not have to act that way but unfortunately; it is a must. People ned to understand that you can't always be "Mr Nice".

Through the different situations in our lives; it is important to know when to " ask Mr Nice to go for a walk". However; he must not be too long as you don't want to become "Mr Bitter".

We are what we do

http://blog.wearewhatwedo.org/
We often hear the sentence "Actions speak louder than words". It means that  our behaviour is a strong indicator of our personalities. Our actions determine who we are. The fact that we choose a particular course of action highlights a facet of our personalities. People are different; their likes and dislikes are not the same. Because of that; we behave differently. It is through that behaviour that we are judged as an individual. Let's take the example of someone of works in a charity organisation. He/she will perform actions such as helping people; spending time with them;  raising funds through activities. It is through those different actions that we can assess that she is a caring person.

It is therefore important to behave in a positive way as it is an indication of our personality.

Mind over matter

In  our daily lives; we are sometimes faced with complicated situations. It affects our lives negatively. First; we think "How did I get myself in this mess?". But you when you ask this question; it means that you are already in trouble and that you need to find a solution; and quick. You wish you had a delete button for things to go back to normal. The sad truth is that it won't. The physical environment; the surroundings reminds everyday that the problem is here. You don't know how to deal with it because it has a strong presence in your life. This is what I define as matter: everything related to the physical world that has an effect on you.

You may ask yourself: "How do I overcome this?". It is simple: through the power of your mind. If you convince your mind that you can achieve it; then you can. You first need to understand and believe that the decision you are taking is the right one.You need to keep your objectives in mind. And when you do; it will give you this unbelievable power that you never knew you had.
Mind over matter: the strength of our spirit over the elements of the physical world. The mind is  an ocean filled with resources that you can access when you want to. We just need to look for it.

Gut feeling!

http://ssbbgamergirl.deviantart.com/art/That-Gut-Feeling-169248683

Have you ever wondered what was the nature of this little intuition that you have about something.
Intuition is defined as the act of sensing or knowing  without rational processes . The definition highlights the fact that it does not involve rational process. It is intuitive; we just sense it.
It pushes towards one direction; tells you what to do (or what not to do). You can't really know what that feeling is; because it is coming from an inner part of yourself; therefore it obviously has the best interest for me.

I don't know where it comes from for sure; but I think that God placed it somewhere in our minds. No matter the situation; I can hear a little voice in my head telling me what to do. However; it sometimes happens that we doubt it or even go against it; which might lead to something bad.

We need to learn to trust it.

We are afraid of the wrong things

Fear can be defined as the unpleasant feeling that is aroused in our mind by the threat of danger; evil or pain. In our everyday lives; we experience fear. It is mostly on a emotional level. It is the environment we find ourselves in  that often make us afraid. It can be a place (for example a creepy house) or even a particular situation (for example getting home alone late at night)

http://technorati.com/lifestyle/article/leadership-lessons-the-upside-of-fear/
Fear comes into our mind and invites itself. It keeps us from doing things that can benefit us; it keeps us from making changes in our lives. Because of that fear; we make up situations (which will probably never happen) in which we will experience pain. The thing that makes fear so powerful in our mind is the uncertainty. We don't know what lies ahead for us. We think that it is not going to work out and that it will cause us pain. It is more or less like getting into a dark room and not knowing what is in it.

We are afraid of the wrong things. We are afraid to try because we don't know what the future holds and because we don't want to get hurt. We are afraid of what it might do to us and what people will think.
This change brings about numerous characteristics that need to be taken into account. Is it worth it or not? I guess there is only one way to find out: we must TRY. .

We should not be afraid of uncertainty; but instead of the regrets that we might feel because we did not try in the first place.

A dream is a wish your heart makes...

My mind...a far away place that is so close to my heart. In my mind; I can make up anything; be anyone and do anything. My imagination is the start  of my future. When I think about the years to come ; I can see what I want. This "draft" that I set up is the beginning of the pursuit of my dreams.

Martin Luther King's famous speech  "I have a dream" is the perfect example. The speech brings out the fact that everything starts with a dream. It is only when you dream that you can begin to achieve your objectives. Your dreams give you the plans; the outlines of what needs to be done. When you dream; you see the positive side of life; the opportunities that you could get. A dream is a wish your heart makes; so listen to it.

Life is full of surprises (A fish falling from the sky)

When I think about the sentence "A fish falling from the sky" ; the term "mission impossible" comes to mind. From a first point of view; it can't happen as we all know that fish live under the sea. However; it is important to know that it did happen! In 2010; fishes began falling from  the sky in a small outback Australian town called Lajamanu. Apparently; they were still alive when they hit the ground. This is a possible explanation for this mystery: when tornadoes suck up water; it sucks the fishes as well and drop them a hundred of miles away. This could be an explanation; but the whole situation is still a bit confusing.

We never expected to see a fish falling from the sky (even with the explanation given). It reminds me of the fact that we all come across unexpected situations that catch us off guard. Situations we haven't planned that brings its sets of problems and mysteries. We have to learn how to deal with those situations as it will permit us to be stronger. It is important because we will know what we are capable of; and it is more than enough to boost our confidence and self esteem. We should always think about the fact that life has something in store for us and be prepared in any way we can...
